Welcome To Portland House Vets

Companion Pet and Farm Animal Practice

Portland House Veterinary Practice is an ever-expanding health care centre covering companion, pet and farm animals. The practice is based in the centre of Retford with good parking nearby and is open 365 days a year by appointment and through our 24 hour emergency service.

Portland House Veterinary Group has an experienced team of farm vets able to cope with all your farm emergencies whatever the time of day or night and offer a full range of services.

You can be confident that, with the small animal team, help and advice is always available. Our vets have many years of experience and are committed to the health and happiness of every companion animal and pet that comes through the door.
Although we deal in principle with all pets and companion animals, for some exotic species we may have to transfer you to our network of specialists who will deal with the problem.
The companion animal, pet and farm animal practice is supported by our own dedicated veterinary pharmacy, Veterinary Drugs to Go Limited, and this allows us to ensure you can purchase your medicines at competitive prices.

Our Philosophy

At Portland House Vets, we firmly believe in an honest, sympathetic and direct approach with no hidden costs. Because we respect the emotional bond between a pet and its owner, and the commitment of every livestock owner to provide the best, every vet in our practice is committed, not only to the health, but also to the happiness of every animal in its care.

Our aim is to provide you with the best possible health care for all your animals. For pets and companion animals we provide our services in a pleasant, comfortable and friendly environment. For farm animals we provide a prompt and efficient service,  wherever we have to go.

We aim to take a holistic approach and are convinced that a calm and contented animal is a healthy one: rather like humans, in fact. With this in mind we believe that prevention is better than cure.
